Why First Wings School?

Holistic learning approach

First Wings School is one of the best preschools in Dehradun that aims at providing a holistic learning environment for your child. We have created an atmosphere that brilliantly blends classroom education and co-curricular activities. Kids are allowed to play, explore, and discover new things every day. We make sure kids emerge as thinkers, learners, and problem solvers.

Safe and secure environment

We realise that the safety and security of your child are of paramount importance. Toys for your child are chosen in such a way that they are appropriate for your child’s age and development needs. All our classrooms, play area, and other amenities maintain the highest standards of hygiene. From the time of arrival to the preschool to the time of dispersal, all kids are kept safe in our preschool with CCTVs guarding all the gates.

Focus on active learning

We make sure that different abilities and skills of your child are developed through the focus on active learning. We understand that children learn through having different sensory motor experiences, through acting on objects, interacting with people, and constructing new understanding about surroundings. Hence, we have different materials for the kids to choose from in the classrooms. By actively participating in activities using these materials, children learn new things every day.

Building self-confidence and self-awareness

Self- confidence is not something we are born with. It comes from being cared for, responded to appropriately and feeling secure. From the moment a child joins us, our staff build trusting relationships and respond to the needs of the children in their care. Self-awareness derives from a deep-seated intrapersonal understanding. A child needs to develop an active sense of self, who they are and where they come from. Additionally, they need to understand how they fit in to the variety of social groupings they will encounter on a daily basis. They need to learn to empathise, sympathise and understand how they and their actions are perceived by other people. Our activities will always incorporate elements of reflection and interpretation and help children in this process.

Our children are offered encouragement to try out new things and are praised for their successes no matter how small they may be. Children are not compared to one another but are assessed against the Early years foundation stage milestones as individuals so that their progression can be noted and praised in a meaningful way, helping to build self esteem.

School Preparation

We don’t like to think that everything we do is about preparing children for school. However, through always working towards their next stage of development we are nurturing them towards these next steps. Our process of ensuring we meet and exceed the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and delivering our own unique curriculum. We are preparing children for Big schools and for life.

Good early education ensures children grow and develop at their own pace, are healthy, secure, feel safe and always supports children in their preparations for their next steps, including going to school. At The First Wings School we develop an individual plan for each child to foster their development. These plans are based on their own unique needs, talents, abilities, and interests, while always bearing in mind their future readiness for school.

Literacy

Literacy includes the ability to both read and write. These two skills are critical to the future success of all children in school and beyond. The most important years for the development of these skills are between birth and the age of eight. From the day children join us at The First Wings School, no matter what age they are, we begin to share our love of literacy with them. Being proactive in this way means they can grow to be school children, teenagers and adults with a love and appreciation for reading and the sense of achievement of being able to write well.

Our Teachers talk to the babies and toddlers using simple language, make frequent eye contact and respond to their communications. They play with, and talk to, our children about what is going on around them. They sing and introduce finger rhymes. We share books with babies and toddlers, making reading time a special experience that children will begin to treasure. In addition, we introduce children to the tools of early mark making, pens, pencils, crayons and chalks and encourage them to experiment freely.

Experienced teachers

Along with parents, teachers play the most vital role in the development of children. They introduce various skills and concepts to children, which would shape their future course of development. All our teachers are well-trained, experienced, and creative in providing a stimulating environment for the children to develop to their full potential. They make sure that learning becomes enjoyable for every child by giving individual attention.
